Frequently asked questions

The information in the app looks out of date.

Content is updated by the care team and delivered to the app automatically — the app checks for new content in the background about once a day. To check immediately, open Settings › Check for content updates. You'll need an internet connection. Once content has been downloaded, it stays available offline.

Something in the app is wrong, outdated, or missing.

Please tell us — email us the title of the resource and what needs to change. You can also use Settings › Suggest a Resource to tell us what would be helpful to add.

Which devices does the app work on?

iPhone running iOS 16 or later, or an Android phone running Android 7.0 or later. The app is designed for phones; it will run on an iPad or Android tablet but is not optimized for them.

What languages is the app available in?

The app interface is available in English and Spanish. You can change this at any time in Settings › Language. Some individual resources are currently available only in English, and will appear in English even when the app is set to Spanish. We're continuing to add translations.

Voice search isn't working.

Voice search needs permission to use your microphone and speech recognition. If you declined when first asked, you can turn it back on in your iPhone's Settings › MGB Patient & Family Resource, where you'll find switches for Microphone and Speech Recognition. Your speech is converted to text on your device; audio is never recorded or sent anywhere.

My saved items disappeared.

Saved items are stored only on your device — they aren't tied to an account and don't sync between devices. If you delete and reinstall the app, or switch to a new phone, saved items won't carry over.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-in, and the app never asks for your name, your contact details, or any information about your child.

What information does the app collect?

The app has no accounts and collects no personal or health information. It does collect anonymous, aggregate statistics about which resources are opened, so the care team can improve what's offered. Search terms are never transmitted. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

How do I send feedback about the app?

Open Settings › Send App Feedback, or email us using the address above.

About this app

The MGB Patient & Family Resource app is provided by Mass General Brigham for Children to share educational resources with parents and caregivers of hospitalized children.

The information in the app is general education from your care team. It is not medical advice, and it does not replace conversations with your child's clinicians. Medical guidance, hospital policies, and resources can change; for anything related to your child's care, always speak with your care team.
